Love Story
A 1970 romantic motion picture drama

The story is about Oliver Barrett (Ryan
O’Neal) from a wealthy and well
established Harvard University Graduate
who partly in order to break the
traditional norm of Ivy League, comes
across and falls in love with Jennifer
Cavilleri (Ali McGraw) a smart and

Once they are done
with their graduation they decide to get married
and in protest to this Oliver’s father severed
all ties with him. With Oliver’s income and
Jennifer’s salary from working as a teacher the
couple at the age of 24 decided to have a child.
But unfortunately Jennifer had failed to
conceive several times. Finally they decided to
seek advice from the doctor about this failure
and at this juncture Oliver came to know that
Jennifer was suffering from Leukemia and was
soon going to die.
Due to the doctor’s instructions Oliver attempts
to lead a normal life without letting Jennifer
know about her Deteriorating conditions.
Nevertheless Jennifer finds out about her
ailment after she talks to her doctor and
finally with her days numbered Jennifer has to
go for the costly cancer treatment and now
Oliver can’t bear the expenses much at this
point of time and so he seeks monetary help from
his father who obliged happily to this. Jennifer
speaks to her father about the funeral
arrangements in her death bed and tells Oliver
not to blame himself for her condition and she
dies in his arms. The love and relation between
Oliver and his father as given in the novel has
been projected in the movie in the last scene of
the movie.
This novel was written by Erich Segal, the movie
was directed by Arthur Hiller and produced by
Howard G. Minsky and was nominated by Golden
Globe Award For Best Motion Picture- Drama, Ali
Mcgraw Nominated for Best Actress, Arthur Hiller

Sunset Blvd:
This is a fascinating romantic movie that was released
on 4th August 1950. This is a romantic drama and is
intrigued on a screenwriter writing a screenplay for
Norma Desmond who is an ex- film star who is silent and
has disappeared into the shadows of Hollywood. After
writing the script she falls in love with Max. The story
beautifully portrays the troubles that are faced by

Christmas Eve that remind one about the Christmas

receives a medal for the same. He is not interested in
the medal but wants to go to visit his mother and thus

the movie goes to the future where there are two groups
divided as thinkers and workers. The groups are

full. A man from the thinkers group pays a visit to the
underground where the workers sweating with the hard
work put in by them and the sight amazes him. This is an
untimely story that brings a cynical forecast of the
society in near future. The movie has won 2 awards has
also been nominated twice.
Modern Times:
This is a romantic comedy that is directed by Charles
Chaplin. The movie was released on 5th Feb 1936 and has
won 2 awards along with 1 nomination. The story revolves
around Charles examining and trying to experiment with
an automatic feeding machine. There are several problems
that are encountered and during this time his boss
believes Charles to have gone mad and rushes him to a
mental hospital. The people mistake him for communist
while is getting out and he files a jailbreak and is let
to go out again.
Safety Last:
Directed by Fred C. Newmeyer this romantic movie was
released on April 1st 1923. The main plot of the movie
revolves round a country boy Lloyd who moves out to the
city in order to achieve success. He promises to offer
$1000 to anybody who will be able to attract a lot of
customers to the store. An arrangement is made for a
human fly (Strothers) to climb the face of the building
as a promotion stunt. The man to perform the stunt is a
wanted man and then he realizes that he must himself
perform the stunt. There are lots of difficulties that
